| Es ist immer wieder erstaunlich was die Trüffelschweine bei Kitsuné für Musik für ihre Compilations ausgraben. So fanden sich die Foals, die inzwischen Dank ihres Debüts Antidotes in aller Munde sind, schon vor mehr als einem halben Jahr auf deren Maison Compilation 4. Und das obwohl bei Kitsuné schon längst nicht mehr alles Gold ist was glänzt. Die Foals sind allerdings aus einem anderen Holz geschnitzt als die sonstigen One Hit Wonder a la Does It Offend You Yeah! Die Foals sind vielmehr eine ungemein stimulierende Mischung aus Math-Rock, vergleichbar zum Teil mit den Battles, mit weniger „Jazz“ und mit mehr verständlichen Lyrics. Auch wenn diese bei den Foals ebenfalls eher als Instrument denn als Sprachrohr irgendeiner Meinung fungieren. Das alles wäre nun wirklich eigentlich nicht der Rede wert, würde hier nicht durch das Gebläse von Antibalas eine Portion Afro-Beat in diese mathematisch-technoide Musik geimpft und dadurch ein ganz eigener Robot Funk kreiert, dessen Tanzbarkeit natürlich garantiert ist. Die Jungs haben was – mal sehen was die Zukunft bringt. Bis dahin lauschen wir andächtig, oder tanzen euphorisiert zu Antidotes! |
