| Wo anfangen bei dieser japanischen Ausnahmeband? Was spielen Boris jetzt eigentlich? Doom, Drone, Metal, Stoner Rock, Psychedelic? Eigentlich alles in verschiedenen Gewichtsanteilen. Takeshi, Wata und Atsuo passen in keine einfache Schublade und deshalb wohl auch so perfekt auf Southern Lord. Den Einstieg macht FlowerSunRain eine Nummer die mit ihrem Transistorradiosound an das Echo japanischer Volkslieder aus längst vergessenen Zeiten erinnert und den Hörer angenehm einlullt. Mit Buzz-In, LaserBeam und Statement wird ihm im Anschluss mit der Macht der Fuzz- und Bratzgitarre gepflegt der Kopf frei geblasen. Dabei kommt einem sogar, z.B. bei Statement mit seinem Harmoniegesang, das Wörtchen Pop in den Kopf. Gefolgt wird dieser Rockblock von MyNeighborSatan dem ersten Ausflug in dronige, zwischenzeitlich im Noise explodierende Gefilde. MyNeighborSatan ist mit seinem geloopt anmutenden Beat und seiner Zurückgenommenheit einer meiner Favoriten der Platte. KA RE HA TE TA SA KI – No Ones Grieve ist dann purer Psychedelic Noise mit viel Gitarrengeschwubbel. You Were Holding An Umbrella und der titellose Schlusstrack machen dann den Sack mit beängstigend schönen Melodien, Pathos und Drones zu. Gesungen wird ausschließlich in Japanisch. Eine ganz große Platte, einer ganz großen Band! Live sind Boris übrigens absolute Schau, die man auf keinen Fall verpassen sollte, wenn sich die Möglichkeit bietet. |
