| Ruede Hagelstein könnte aufmerksamen Beobachtern schon durch Veröffentlichungen auf Output und Kitsuné aufgefallen sein, mit der The Modest EP liefert er seinen ersten Beitrag für das Label von Tiefschwarz Souvenir ab. Zeichneten sich seine älteren VÖs noch durch eine gewisse Nähe zu Italodisco und queren Pop aus, eröffnet Ruede Hagelsteins The Modest Theme mit seinen sinisteren Fanfaren- und Ziehsounds, sowie seiner Perkussionsarbeit ein sehr eigenes, dunkelstrahlendes Klanguniversum. Die B-Seite startet mit einem Hagelstein Remix für Dillons C Unseen Sea und kommt mit seinem Dubeffekten und dem stoisch treibenden Beat wesentlich funktionaler daher, erreicht aber nicht die Größe von The Modest. It’s On erscheint mir dann auch eher als feine Zugabe, allerdings durch seinen Acid nicht ohne explizite Floorqualitäten. The Modest Theme bleibt das Monster für den Tanzflur der sich mal was traut und die beiden anderen Tracks halten das Niveau der VÖ angenehm hoch. |
